hydroxyproline and Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1

hydroxyproline has been researched along with Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1 in 18 studies

Hydroxyproline: A hydroxylated form of the imino acid proline. A deficiency in ASCORBIC ACID can result in impaired hydroxyproline formation.
hydroxyproline : A proline derivative that is proline substituted by at least one hydroxy group.

Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1: A subtype of DIABETES MELLITUS that is characterized by INSULIN deficiency. It is manifested by the sudden onset of severe HYPERGLYCEMIA, rapid progression to DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS, and DEATH unless treated with insulin. The disease may occur at any age, but is most common in childhood or adolescence.

Research Excerpts

"Hydroxyproline excretion was increased in both types of diabetes: Type 1: 21 (10-36) (median (IQR) mumol mmol creatinine-1; Type 2: 25 (13-43) mumol mmol creatinine-1; control: 10 (6-22) mumol mmol creatinine-1 (p < 0."5.29Hydroxyproline excretion is increased in diabetes mellitus and related to the presence of microalbuminuria.
