hydrogen carbonate and Hypoparathyroidism

hydrogen carbonate has been researched along with Hypoparathyroidism in 12 studies

Bicarbonates: Inorganic salts that contain the -HCO3 radical. They are an important factor in determining the pH of the blood and the concentration of bicarbonate ions is regulated by the kidney. Levels in the blood are an index of the alkali reserve or buffering capacity.
hydrogencarbonate : The carbon oxoanion resulting from the removal of a proton from carbonic acid.

Hypoparathyroidism: A condition caused by a deficiency of PARATHYROID HORMONE (or PTH). It is characterized by HYPOCALCEMIA and hyperphosphatemia. Hypocalcemia leads to TETANY. The acquired form is due to removal or injuries to the PARATHYROID GLANDS. The congenital form is due to mutations of genes, such as TBX1; (see DIGEORGE SYNDROME); CASR encoding CALCIUM-SENSING RECEPTOR; or PTH encoding parathyroid hormone.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"This article reviews the clinical, biological, radiological, and pathological procedures and their respective indications for the practical diagnosis of the following various histological patterns of renal osteodystrophy: osteitis fibrosa due to parathyroid hormone (PTH) hypersecretion: osteomalacia or rickets due to native vitamin D deficiency and/or aluminum overload; and adynamic bone disease (ABD) due to aluminum overload and/or PTH secretion oversuppression."4.80Renal osteodystrophy in dialysis patients: diagnosis and treatment. "In a woman with hereditary fructose intolerance and intact parathyroid function, the experimental administration of fructose at different dosage schedules invariably induced the dose-dependent, complex dysfunction of the proximal renal tubule now recognized as characteristic."1.25Modulation of experimental renal dysfunction of hereditary fructose intolerance by circulating parathyroid hormone.
