hydrogen carbonate and Glycogen Storage Disease Type I

hydrogen carbonate has been researched along with Glycogen Storage Disease Type I in 3 studies

Bicarbonates: Inorganic salts that contain the -HCO3 radical. They are an important factor in determining the pH of the blood and the concentration of bicarbonate ions is regulated by the kidney. Levels in the blood are an index of the alkali reserve or buffering capacity.
hydrogencarbonate : The carbon oxoanion resulting from the removal of a proton from carbonic acid.

Glycogen Storage Disease Type I: An autosomal recessive disease in which gene expression of glucose-6-phosphatase is absent, resulting in hypoglycemia due to lack of glucose production. Accumulation of glycogen in liver and kidney leads to organomegaly, particularly massive hepatomegaly. Increased concentrations of lactic acid and hyperlipidemia appear in the plasma. Clinical gout often appears in early childhood.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Palmitate, glucose, and glycerol oxidation to CO(2) have been investigated in the fasted state in ten normal subjects and nine patients (six hyperlipoproteinemias, one xanthomatosis, and two glycogenosis) after intravenous injection of [1-(14)C]palmitate, [1-(14)C]glucose, or [1-(14)C]glycerol in tracer amounts."3.65Interrelations in the oxidative metabolism of free fatty acids, glucose, and glycerol in normal and hyperlipemic patients. A compartmental model. ( Berman, M; Delcroix, C; Malmendier, CL, 1974)
