halothane and Hernia, Inguinal

halothane has been researched along with Hernia, Inguinal in 33 studies

Hernia, Inguinal: An abdominal hernia with an external bulge in the GROIN region. It can be classified by the location of herniation. Indirect inguinal hernias occur through the internal inguinal ring. Direct inguinal hernias occur through defects in the ABDOMINAL WALL (transversalis fascia) in Hesselbach's triangle. The former type is commonly seen in children and young adults; the latter in adults.

Research Excerpts

" The following parameters were estimated the day before surgery and on the first postoperative day: liver cell metabolism (bile acids, unconjugated bilirubin), cell integrity (aminotransferases), synthesizing capacity (Prothrombin complex), cholestasis (conjugated bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase), and global liver function (chenodeoxycholic load test)."5.08Liver function and halothane-diethyl-ether azeotrope anaesthesia. Re-evaluation of an obsolete drug with special reference to early postoperative effects. ( Bengtsson, M; Kalman, SH; Mårtensson, J, 1995)
"A microcomputer system for studying photo-plethysmography of the finger (PPF) was designed and applied to 50 non-premedicated healthy boys (one to ten years old) undergoing general anaesthesia (halothane in 70% N2O, with mechanical ventilation) for outpatient inguinal hernia repair."3.68Computerized photo-plethysmography of the finger. ( Blanc, VF; Haig, M; Sauvé, B; Troli, M, 1993)
"Eighty children undergoing inguinal hernia repair between the ages of 12 mo and 6 yr were randomly assigned to receive either halothane or sevoflurane anesthesia."2.71The effect of caudal analgesia on emergence agitation in children after sevoflurane versus halothane anesthesia. ( Bell, M; Craddock, T; Weldon, BC, 2004)
"The incidence of postoperative vomiting was 23% in the halothane group, which was significantly greater than that in the other groups (halothane and dexamethasone group, 9%; sevoflurane group, 13%)."2.69Vomiting and common paediatric surgery. ( Agostino, R; Busoni, P; Crescioli, M; Sestini, G, 2000)
"Infants with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome usually present different abnormalities which may require surgical correction."1.29Anaesthesia and the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. ( García-Perla, JL; Ojeda, R; Pérez-Torres, MC; Suan, C, 1996)
"Until our malignant hyperthermia diagnostic center was opened, such tests could not be performed in Israel."1.28[In vitro diagnosis of malignant hyperpyrexia syndrome]. ( Eldar, I; Glauber, V; Goldberg, G; Perel, A, 1991)
