guaifenesin and Peritonitis

guaifenesin has been researched along with Peritonitis in 4 studies

Guaifenesin: An expectorant that also has some muscle relaxing action. It is used in many cough preparations.

Peritonitis: INFLAMMATION of the PERITONEUM lining the ABDOMINAL CAVITY as the result of infectious, autoimmune, or chemical processes. Primary peritonitis is due to infection of the PERITONEAL CAVITY via hematogenous or lymphatic spread and without intra-abdominal source. Secondary peritonitis arises from the ABDOMINAL CAVITY itself through RUPTURE or ABSCESS of intra-abdominal organs.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Bile peritonitis is a severe, nonseptic inflammatory response to bile in the peritoneal cavity."1.32Three cases of canine bile peritonitis with mucinous material in abdominal fluid as the prominent cytologic finding. ( Christopher, MM; Gossett, R; McElhaney, MR; Owens, SD; Shelly, SM, 2003)
"Cystadenocarcinomas are malignant tumours with mucoid secretion containing epithelial cells; they have a tendency to recur despite repeated evacuations, and their 5-year survival rate is approximately 25%; death results from intestinal obstruction or compression of intra-abdominal viscera by the mucoid substance."1.27[Mucosecreting tumors of the appendix. 3 cases].
