fosmidomycin and Bacterial Disease

fosmidomycin has been researched along with Bacterial Disease in 5 studies

fosmidomycin: from Streptomyces lavendulae; RN given refers to parent cpd; structure in second source
fosmidomycin : Propylphosphonic acid in which one of the hydrogens at position 3 is substituted by a formyl(hydroxy)amino group. An antibiotic obtained from Streptomyces lavendulae, it specifically inhibits DXP reductoisomerase (EC 1.1.1.267), a key enzyme in the non-mevalonate pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Antibiotic fosmidomycin will know as inhibitor of the nonmevalonate pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis and as possible antimalarial drug, was shown to possess a certain protective effect on mice experimentally infected with tularemia, tiphus or coli-septicemia."3.72[Effect of fosfidomycin on development of various infections in mice]. ( Bakhteeva, IV; Biketov, SF; Biniukov, VI; Borzenkov, VN; OstrovskiÄ, DN; Potapov, VD; Titareva, GM; Wiesner, J, 2003)
"The failure to treat everyday bacterial infections is a current threat as pathogens are finding new ways to thwart antibiotics through mechanisms of resistance and intracellular refuge, thus rendering current antibiotic strategies ineffective."2.72Antibiotic-cell-penetrating peptide conjugates targeting challenging drug-resistant and intracellular pathogenic bacteria. ( Chmielewski, J; Zeiders, SM, 2021)
