fluorouracil and Liver Abscess

fluorouracil has been researched along with Liver Abscess in 6 studies

Fluorouracil: A pyrimidine analog that is an antineoplastic antimetabolite. It interferes with DNA synthesis by blocking the THYMIDYLATE SYNTHETASE conversion of deoxyuridylic acid to thymidylic acid.
5-fluorouracil : A nucleobase analogue that is uracil in which the hydrogen at position 5 is replaced by fluorine. It is an antineoplastic agent which acts as an antimetabolite - following conversion to the active deoxynucleotide, it inhibits DNA synthesis (by blocking the conversion of deoxyuridylic acid to thymidylic acid by the cellular enzyme thymidylate synthetase) and so slows tumour growth.

Liver Abscess: Solitary or multiple collections of PUS within the liver as a result of infection by bacteria, protozoa, or other agents.

"In order to determine whether preresectional chemoradiotherapy (CTRT) would influence resectability, local control, and survival of patients with localized pancreatic adenocarcinoma, a 5 1/2-year prospective study of 39 patients treated with preoperative radiation therapy, 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU), and Mitomycin C has been performed."3.68A single institutional experience with preoperative chemoradiotherapy for stage I-III pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
