flunitrazepam and Hyperthyroid

flunitrazepam has been researched along with Hyperthyroid in 4 studies

Flunitrazepam: A benzodiazepine with pharmacologic actions similar to those of DIAZEPAM that can cause ANTEROGRADE AMNESIA. Some reports indicate that it is used as a date rape drug and suggest that it may precipitate violent behavior. The United States Government has banned the importation of this drug.
flunitrazepam : A 1,4-benzodiazepinone that is nitrazepam substituted by a methyl group at position 1 and by a fluoro group at position 2'. It is a potent hypnotic, sedative, and amnestic drug used to treat chronic insomnia.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"In an experimental condition of hyperthyroidism, obtained by repeated administration of triiodothyronine in adult rats (100 micrograms/kg/day, sc for 7 consecutive days), there is an increased susceptibility to the convulsant effect of isoniazid (300 mg/kg, ip) and picrotoxin (4 mg/kg, ip)."7.68Repeated administration of triiodothyronine enhances the susceptibility of rats to isoniazid- and picrotoxin-induced seizures. ( Bertolini, A; Marrama, D; Sandrini, M; Vergoni, AV, 1992)

"In rats rendered hyperthyroid by chronic treatment with L-triiodothyronine (T3) hormone there was a 21 and 27% decrease, respectively, in the number of binding sites for [3H]flunitrazepam ([3H]FNZ) and [3H]ethyl-beta-carboline-3-carboxylate ([3H]beta-CCE) without changes in affinity for the two ligands."3.67Benzodiazepine receptor and thyroid hormones: in vivo and in vitro modulation. " The experimental hyperthyroidism resulted in an increase in the density of cortical central BZ receptors, without any alteration of the affinity of the receptors to [3H]flunitrazepam."3.67Modulatory effects of thyroxine treatment on central and peripheral benzodiazepine receptors in the rat.
