estrone and Hypertension

estrone has been researched along with Hypertension in 22 studies

Hydroxyestrones: Estrone derivatives substituted with one or more hydroxyl groups in any position. They are important metabolites of estrone and other estrogens.

Hypertension: Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Although angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition has been shown to prevent progression of the disease in postmenopausal women, the interaction of angiotensin II and estrogen in this process before and after the menopause is poorly understood."3.70Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition modulates cardiac fibroblast growth. ( Grohé, C; Kahlert, S; Löbbert, K; Neyses, L; Stimpel, M; van Eickels, M; Vetter, H, 1998)
"We examined the relation of total and free testosterone, sex hormone binding globulin, estrone, estradiol, and DHEA-SO4 to the 5-year IHD mortality in the older-onset diabetic subjects in the Wisconsin Epidemiologic Study of Diabetic Retinopathy (WESDR) in a matched diabetic subject-control design (two control subjects for every diabetic subject)."3.69Sex hormones and DHEA-SO4 in relation to ischemic heart disease mortality in diabetic subjects. The Wisconsin Epidemiologic Study of Diabetic Retinopathy. ( Haffner, SM; Klein, BE; Klein, R; Moss, SE, 1996)
"Hypertension is more common among men at younger ages and among women after age 60, suggesting a possible link between endogenous estrogens and systolic blood pressure (SBP)."1.35Serum estrogen metabolites and systolic blood pressure among middle-aged and older women and men. ( Cacioppo, JT; Hawkley, LC; Masi, CM; Veenstra, TD; Xu, X, 2009)
" Requisites of such therapy are a through history to establish a real need, a complete gynecologic examination with a Pap smear before therapy begins and annually afterward, use of the smallest daily dose of estrogen that gives the desired effect, and periodic attempts to reduce the dosage or stop the hormone."1.26Estrogens for the menopause. Maximizing benefits, minimizing risks. ( Seller, JC, 1977)
