[Use of converting enzyme inhibitors in children. I. General remarks].
In the paper general remarks concerning ACE-inhibitors (especially enalapril) use in children have been described. Kidney artery stenosis, hypovolemia, and shock are only ones contraindications to this treatment in a childhood, even in the first period after birth. Anyhow, it was stressed on the basis of literature that at a beginning of extrauterine life the kinetics of these drugs is changed, thus they should be recommended carefully and in low doses. It was stressed, as well, that up to now appeared only a few papers concerning ACE-inhibitors use a childhood. It is suggested that enalapril can be used as an rather safety drug in pediatric patients suffering from circulatory insufficiency or arterial hypertension.
