emodin and Gallbladder Neoplasms

emodin has been researched along with Gallbladder Neoplasms in 4 studies

Emodin: Purgative anthraquinone found in several plants, especially RHAMNUS PURSHIANA. It was formerly used as a laxative, but is now used mainly as a tool in toxicity studies.
emodin : A trihydroxyanthraquinone that is 9,10-anthraquinone which is substituted by hydroxy groups at positions 1, 3, and 8 and by a methyl group at position 6. It is present in the roots and barks of numerous plants (particularly rhubarb and buckthorn), moulds, and lichens. It is an active ingredient of various Chinese herbs.

Gallbladder Neoplasms: Tumors or cancer of the gallbladder.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Emodin is an effective active ingredient extracted from Chinese herbal medicine, which has the function of antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and scavenging oxygen free radicals, inhibiting platelet aggregation, improving microcirculation, protecting various organs and tissues as well as a wide range of anti-tumor effect."2.50[Research progress of emodin anti-gallbladder carcinoma]. ( Dong, SB; Liu, C; Liu, YP; Wang, RT; Yin, H; Yuan, W, 2014)
"Co-treatment with emodin additively inhibited survivin expression in a ROS-dependent manner."1.37Emodin potentiates the anticancer effect of cisplatin on gallbladder cancer cells through the generation of reactive oxygen species and the inhibition of survivin expression.
