dihydroxyphenylalanine and Depression, Endogenous

dihydroxyphenylalanine has been researched along with Depression, Endogenous in 16 studies

Dihydroxyphenylalanine: A beta-hydroxylated derivative of phenylalanine. The D-form of dihydroxyphenylalanine has less physiologic activity than the L-form and is commonly used experimentally to determine whether the pharmacological effects of LEVODOPA are stereospecific.
dopa : A hydroxyphenylalanine carrying hydroxy substituents at positions 3 and 4 of the benzene ring.

"With the exception of Parkinson's disease, there is little evidence that treatments which decrease DA function are potent inducers of depression, but it is argued that such a relationship might not necessarily be expected."2.36Dopamine and depression: a review of recent evidence. I. Empirical studies. ( Willner, P, 1983)
"Motor symptoms form the hallmark of Parkinson's disease (PD), although other features such as depression are often present."1.34Striatal dopaminergic activity (FDOPA-PET) associated with cognitive items of a depression scale (MADRS) in Parkinson's disease.
