dextroamphetamine and Multiple System Atrophy Syndrome

dextroamphetamine has been researched along with Multiple System Atrophy Syndrome in 1 studies

Dextroamphetamine: The d-form of AMPHETAMINE. It is a central nervous system stimulant and a sympathomimetic. It has also been used in the treatment of narcolepsy and of attention deficit disorders and hyperactivity in children. Dextroamphetamine has multiple mechanisms of action including blocking uptake of adrenergics and dopamine, stimulating release of monamines, and inhibiting monoamine oxidase. It is also a drug of abuse and a psychotomimetic.
(S)-amphetamine : A 1-phenylpropan-2-amine that has S configuration.

"Intrastriatal injection of 3-nitropropionic acid results in secondary excitotoxic local damage and retrograde neuronal cell loss in substantia nigra pars compacta, thus mimicking salient features of striatonigral degeneration, the core pathology underlying Parkinsonism associated with multiple system atrophy."7.71No functional effects of embryonic neuronal grafts on motor deficits in a 3-nitropropionic acid rat model of advanced striatonigral degeneration (multiple system atrophy).
