desipramine and Inadequate Sleep

desipramine has been researched along with Inadequate Sleep in 8 studies

Desipramine: A tricyclic dibenzazepine compound that potentiates neurotransmission. Desipramine selectively blocks reuptake of norepinephrine from the neural synapse, and also appears to impair serotonin transport. This compound also possesses minor anticholinergic activity, through its affinity to muscarinic receptors.
desipramine : A dibenzoazepine consisting of 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[b,f]azepine substituted on nitrogen with a 3-(methylamino)propyl group.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Treatment with citalopram (5 and 10 mg/kg, ip) and desipramine (10 and 20 mg/kg, ip) for 5 days significantly improved locomotor activity, anti-anxiety like behavior in all paradigms tasks (mirror chamber, plus maze, zero maze) as compared to control (72 hr sleep-deprived)."5.35Possible role of citalopram and desipramine against sleep deprivation-induced anxiety like-behavior alterations and oxidative damage in mice. ( Garg, R; Kumar, A, 2008)
"This study examined the effects of acute and chronic desipramine, 24-h total sleep deprivation (TSD) and 96-h REM sleep deprivation (REMSD) on physostigmine-induced hypothermia, analgesia and behaviour."3.72Functional reactivity of central cholinergic systems following desipramine treatments and sleep deprivation.
