desipramine has been researched along with Dementia Praecox in 35 studies
Desipramine: A tricyclic dibenzazepine compound that potentiates neurotransmission. Desipramine selectively blocks reuptake of norepinephrine from the neural synapse, and also appears to impair serotonin transport. This compound also possesses minor anticholinergic activity, through its affinity to muscarinic receptors.
desipramine : A dibenzoazepine consisting of 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[b,f]azepine substituted on nitrogen with a 3-(methylamino)propyl group.

" Among the more important recent discoveries are the efficacy of the tricyclic antidepressants for panic disorder and agoraphobia with panic attacks; the use of the monoamine oxidase inhibitors for the above disorders and for atypical depression and hysteroid dysphoria; the use of propranolol for anxiety disorders and for uncontrollable violent outbursts; the antianxiety and antipanic effects of clonidine; and the usefulness of lithium in treating schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder and for emotionally unstable character disorders." | 4.76 | Newer uses for older psychotropic medications. ( Liebowitz, MR, 1982) |
" To develop an animal model for the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, in particular, the depressive symptoms, the effect of phencyclidine (PCP) on immobility in the forced swimming test was investigated in mice, since PCP produces negative symptoms-like behavioral changes in humans." | 3.69 | [Behavioral assessment of neuroleptics (3)--Schizophrenia negative symptoms-like model induced by PCP]. ( Nabeshima, T; Noda, Y, 1996) |
"We have previously found that repeated phencyclidine (PCP) treatment enhances the immobility induced by forced swimming and suggested that this behavioral change could be used as a model of the negative symptoms, particularly depression, of schizophrenia." | 3.69 | Effects of antidepressants on phencyclidine-induced enhancement of immobility in a forced swimming test in mice. ( Furukawa, H; Mamiya, T; Nabeshima, T; Noda, Y, 1997) |
"Desipramine 50 mg/day was coadministered for 1 week, and blood samplings and clinical ratings were performed before and after the coadministration." | 2.68 | No interaction between desipramine and bromperidol.
