dehydroepiandrosterone and Panic Attacks

dehydroepiandrosterone has been researched along with Panic Attacks in 5 studies

Dehydroepiandrosterone: A major C19 steroid produced by the ADRENAL CORTEX. It is also produced in small quantities in the TESTIS and the OVARY. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) can be converted to TESTOSTERONE; ANDROSTENEDIONE; ESTRADIOL; and ESTRONE. Most of DHEA is sulfated (DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE SULFATE) before secretion.
dehydroepiandrosterone : An androstanoid that is androst-5-ene substituted by a beta-hydroxy group at position 3 and an oxo group at position 17. It is a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In 25 female patients with panic disorder (PD) and 11 healthy female controls, we measured plasma concentrations of progesterone (PROG), pregnenolone (PREG), allopregnanolone (3alpha,5alpha-tetrahydroprogesterone=3alpha,5alpha-THPROG), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and tetrahydrodeoxycorticosterone (3alpha,5alpha-THDOC) during a drug-free month and during the following month of paroxetine therapy."3.72Neurosteroid secretion in panic disorder. "Abused women with PTSD had lower concentrations of cortisol during the afternoon hours (12-8 p."1.34Cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone, and estradiol measured over 24 hours in women with childhood sexual abuse-related posttraumatic stress disorder. ( Bremner, D; Kelley, ME; Vermetten, E, 2007)
