dehydroepiandrosterone and Androblastoma

dehydroepiandrosterone has been researched along with Androblastoma in 20 studies

Dehydroepiandrosterone: A major C19 steroid produced by the ADRENAL CORTEX. It is also produced in small quantities in the TESTIS and the OVARY. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) can be converted to TESTOSTERONE; ANDROSTENEDIONE; ESTRADIOL; and ESTRONE. Most of DHEA is sulfated (DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE SULFATE) before secretion.
dehydroepiandrosterone : An androstanoid that is androst-5-ene substituted by a beta-hydroxy group at position 3 and an oxo group at position 17. It is a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"A plasma testosterone/androstenedione (T/A) ratio was calculated in 15 women with possible ovarian neoplasms and androgen excess and whose mean plasma concentration of testosterone approached or was greater than a twofold elevation."3.66Testosterone/androstenedione ratio in the evaluation of women with ovarian androgen excess. ( Morris, CV; Wiebe, RH, 1983)
"The present data suggest that: 1) androblastomas have a biosynthetic capacity for androgen, estrogen, or both in which both the delta 5 and delta 4 pathways are involved, and 2) little correlation exists between the endocrine function and cellular composition of the tumors or their degree of differentiation."1.27Endocrine studies on ovarian androblastomas (Sertoli-Leydig tumors).
