cytosine and Kidney Failure, Chronic

cytosine has been researched along with Kidney Failure, Chronic in 20 studies

Kidney Failure, Chronic: The end-stage of CHRONIC RENAL INSUFFICIENCY. It is characterized by the severe irreversible kidney damage (as measured by the level of PROTEINURIA) and the reduction in GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE to less than 15 ml per min (Kidney Foundation: Kidney Disease Outcome Quality Initiative, 2002). These patients generally require HEMODIALYSIS or KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"We describe for the first time acute renal failure after topical cidofovir in an immunosuppressed patient with prior renal insufficiency."1.31Topical use of cidofovir induced acute renal failure. ( Bellenger, P; Bienvenu, B; Devergie, A; Gluckman, E; Lebbé, C; Martinez, F; Morel, P; Rivet, J; Rybojad, M, 2002)
" Because cidofovir is primarily eliminated by the kidneys and because its main adverse effect is nephrotoxicity, an understanding of the pharmacokinetic disposition of cidofovir in patients with renal insufficiency is necessary."1.30Pharmacokinetics of cidofovir in renal insufficiency and in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis or high-flux hemodialysis.
