cyclopentolate and Pseudophakia

cyclopentolate has been researched along with Pseudophakia in 8 studies

Cyclopentolate: A parasympatholytic anticholinergic used solely to obtain mydriasis or cycloplegia.
cyclopentolate : A carboxylic ester resulting from the formal condensation of (1-hydroxycyclopentyl)(phenyl)acetic acid with N,N-dimethylethanolamine. A tertiary amine antimuscarinic with actions similar to atropine, it is used as its hydrochloride salt to produce mydriasis (excessive dilation of the pupil) and cycloplegia (paralysis of the ciliary muscle of the eye) for opthalmic diagnostic procedures. It acts more quickly than atropine and has a shorter duration of action.

Pseudophakia: Presence of an intraocular lens after cataract extraction.

Research Excerpts

"Most trials that study the lens movement of accommodative intraocular lens (IOLs) use pilocarpine to stimulate ciliary muscle contraction."5.11Stimulus-driven versus pilocarpine-induced biometric changes in pseudophakic eyes. ( Drexler, W; Findl, O; Koeppl, C; Kriechbaum, K; Menapace, R, 2005)
"In this prospective study, the ACD was measured using high-precision, high-resolution, dual-beam partial coherence interferometry in 62 pseudophakic eyes of 55 patients under pilocarpine- and cyclopentolate-induced ciliary muscle contraction and relaxation."3.72Intraocular lens movement caused by ciliary muscle contraction.
