citalopram and Anxiety, Separation

citalopram has been researched along with Anxiety, Separation in 6 studies

Citalopram: A furancarbonitrile that is one of the serotonin uptake inhibitors used as an antidepressant. The drug is also effective in reducing ethanol uptake in alcoholics and is used in depressed patients who also suffer from TARDIVE DYSKINESIA in preference to tricyclic antidepressants, which aggravate dyskinesia.
citalopram : A racemate comprising equimolar amounts of (R)-citalopram and its enantiomer, escitalopram. It is used as an antidepressant, although only escitalopram is active.
1-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-carbonitrile : A nitrile that is 1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-carbonitrile in which one of the hydrogens at position 1 is replaced by a p-fluorophenyl group, while the other is replaced by a 3-(dimethylamino)propyl group.

Anxiety, Separation: Anxiety experienced by an individual upon separation from a person or object of particular significance to the individual.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Using maternal separation (MS), a paradigm of early adversity, we investigated the effects of adolescent (PND 33-54) escitalopram (ES; 10mg/kg) exposure on depression- and anxiety-like behaviours and the levels of inflammatory cytokines (interleukin [IL]-1β, tumor necrosis factor [TNF]-α, and IL-10) in the ventral hippocampus (HPV), prefrontal cortex (PFC), and serum in adult (PND 61) male offspring mice."7.85Adolescent escitalopram prevents the effects of maternal separation on depression- and anxiety-like behaviours and regulates the levels of inflammatory cytokines in adult male mice.
