chlorpromazine and Endotoxin Shock

chlorpromazine has been researched along with Endotoxin Shock in 48 studies

Chlorpromazine: The prototypical phenothiazine antipsychotic drug. Like the other drugs in this class chlorpromazine's antipsychotic actions are thought to be due to long-term adaptation by the brain to blocking DOPAMINE RECEPTORS. Chlorpromazine has several other actions and therapeutic uses, including as an antiemetic and in the treatment of intractable hiccup.
chlorpromazine : A substituted phenothiazine in which the ring nitrogen at position 10 is attached to C-3 of an N,N-dimethylpropanamine moiety.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The inhibitory effect of chlorpromazine (CPZ), pentoxifylline (PTX) and dexamethasone (DEX) was investigated in a model of endotoxin shock in Holstein calves following an intravenous administration of Esherichia coli endotoxin (LPS)."3.69Inhibitory effect on LPS-induced tumor necrosis factor in calves treated with chlorpromazine or pentoxifylline. ( Higuchi, T; Matsuzawa, H; Ohtsuka, H; Sato, H; Takahashi, J; Takahashi, K; Yoshino, TO, 1997)
"Chlorpromazine (CPZ) has potent immunomodulatory effects in vivo; it induces humoral autoimmunity in up to 50% of patients, inhibits delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions, and suppresses lethal immune hyperactivation in animal models of septic shock."1.29Chlorpromazine amplifies macrophage-dependent IL-10 production in vivo.
