chlorpromazine and Autoimmune Diseases

chlorpromazine has been researched along with Autoimmune Diseases in 11 studies

Chlorpromazine: The prototypical phenothiazine antipsychotic drug. Like the other drugs in this class chlorpromazine's antipsychotic actions are thought to be due to long-term adaptation by the brain to blocking DOPAMINE RECEPTORS. Chlorpromazine has several other actions and therapeutic uses, including as an antiemetic and in the treatment of intractable hiccup.
chlorpromazine : A substituted phenothiazine in which the ring nitrogen at position 10 is attached to C-3 of an N,N-dimethylpropanamine moiety.

Autoimmune Diseases: Disorders that are characterized by the production of antibodies that react with host tissues or immune effector cells that are autoreactive to endogenous peptides.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" This exhibited features similar to human lupus and was induced by injecting mice either with the H308 monoclonal antibody specific to NPA, with sera from mice which already had developed the autoimmune disease, or with liposomes treated with the NPA inductors chlorpromazine or procainamide; or with these NPA inductors alone."3.72Antibodies to non-bilayer phospholipid arrangements induce a murine autoimmune disease resembling human lupus. ( Baeza, I; Campos, B; Farfán, N; Flores-Romo, L; Hernández-Pando, R; Ibáñez, M; Lara, M; Leyva, E; Orozco, H; Wong, C, 2004)
"The effects of aminazin and aspirin on brain injuries in animals with immunological hypersensitivity of the body were studied."3.66[Nerve tissue ultrastructure in experimental brain injuries in animals with increased immunobiologic reactivity following treatment with certain desensitizing drugs].
