cetirizine and Delayed Hypersensitivity

cetirizine has been researched along with Delayed Hypersensitivity in 13 studies

Cetirizine: A potent second-generation histamine H1 antagonist that is effective in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and pollen-induced asthma. Unlike many traditional antihistamines, it does not cause drowsiness or anticholinergic side effects.
cetirizine : A member of the class of piperazines that is piperazine in which the hydrogens attached to nitrogen are replaced by a (4-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methyl and a 2-(carboxymethoxy)ethyl group respectively.

Research Excerpts

"Because the older antihistamines possessed relatively weak antihistaminic action, as well as sedative and anticholinergic effects, they could not be administered in doses high enough to confer relief to atopic patients with asthma."8.78Antihistamines in the treatment of clinical asthma. ( Rafferty, P, 1990)
"The effects of oral administration of the antihistamine cetirizine on the weal and flare caused by intradermal injection of platelet activating factor (PAF-acether), kallikrein, histamine and the patient's own serum were investigated in 10 patients with chronic urticaria."7.68Effect of cetirizine on cutaneous reactions to PAF, kallikrein and serum in patients with chronic urticaria.
