carbamazepine and Diabetic Neuropathies

carbamazepine has been researched along with Diabetic Neuropathies in 46 studies

Carbamazepine: A dibenzazepine that acts as a sodium channel blocker. It is used as an anticonvulsant for the treatment of grand mal and psychomotor or focal SEIZURES. It may also be used in the management of BIPOLAR DISORDER, and has analgesic properties.
carbamazepine : A dibenzoazepine that is 5H-dibenzo[b,f]azepine carrying a carbamoyl substituent at the azepine nitrogen, used as an anticonvulsant.

Diabetic Neuropathies: Peripheral, autonomic, and cranial nerve disorders that are associated with DIABETES MELLITUS. These conditions usually result from diabetic microvascular injury involving small blood vessels that supply nerves (VASA NERVORUM). Relatively common conditions which may be associated with diabetic neuropathy include third nerve palsy (see OCULOMOTOR NERVE DISEASES); MONONEUROPATHY; mononeuropathy multiplex; diabetic amyotrophy; a painful POLYNEUROPATHY; autonomic neuropathy; and thoracoabdominal neuropathy. Trial Outcomes

Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at Visit 3

Subjects rated their pain using the VAS at visit 3, which was the last day of their maintenance phase. After this visit, subjects begin to taper the gralise. The VAS is subject reported on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain they can imagine. Results reported are an average of the 3 subjects who completed visit 3.
