cantharidin has been researched along with Dermatitis, Contact in 12 studies
Cantharidin: A toxic compound, isolated from the Spanish fly or blistering beetle (Lytta (Cantharis) vesicatoria) and other insects. It is a potent and specific inhibitor of protein phosphatases 1 (PP1) and 2A (PP2A). This compound can produce severe skin inflammation, and is extremely toxic if ingested orally.
cantharidin : A monoterpenoid with an epoxy-bridged cyclic dicarboxylic anhydride structure secreted by many species of blister beetle, and most notably by the Spanish fly, Lytta vesicatoria. Natural toxin inhibitor of protein phosphatases 1 and 2A.
Dermatitis, Contact: A type of acute or chronic skin reaction in which sensitivity is manifested by reactivity to materials or substances coming in contact with the skin. It may involve allergic or non-allergic mechanisms.

"Thanks to local application of various compounds that inhibit the effects or the synthesis of histamine, serotonin, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, hypotheses are proposed about the possible role of these mediators in various experimental inflammations induced on mouse ear: reactions to arachidonic acid, croton oil and cantharidin (6-h and 24-h phases); primary irritation and delayed hypersensitivity reaction to picryl chloride; and semi-delayed (6-h) and delayed (24-h) hypersensitivity to oxazolone." | 3.67 | Hypotheses on a possible role of some mediators in various inflammatory reactions on mouse ear.
