buspirone and Colitis

buspirone has been researched along with Colitis in 2 studies

Buspirone: An anxiolytic agent and serotonin receptor agonist belonging to the azaspirodecanedione class of compounds. Its structure is unrelated to those of the BENZODIAZAPINES, but it has an efficacy comparable to DIAZEPAM.
buspirone : An azaspiro compound that is 8-azaspiro[4.5]decane-7,9-dione substituted at the nitrogen atom by a 4-(piperazin-1-yl)butyl group which in turn is substituted by a pyrimidin-2-yl group at the N(4) position.

Colitis: Inflammation of the COLON section of the large intestine (INTESTINE, LARGE), usually with symptoms such as DIARRHEA (often with blood and mucus), ABDOMINAL PAIN, and FEVER.

" In this study performed on male Wistar rats, we used microelectrode recording of the caudal ventrolateral medulla (CVLM) neuron responses to colorectal distension (CRD) and electromyography recording of CRD-evoked visceromotor reactions (VMRs) to evaluate post-colitis changes in the effects of 5-HT1A agonist buspirone on supraspinal visceral nociceptive transmission."8.31Opposing effects of 5-HT1A receptor agonist buspirone on supraspinal abdominal pain transmission in normal and visceral hypersensitive rats. ( Busygina, II; Lyubashina, OA; Sivachenko, IB; Sushkevich, BM, 2023)
"Colitis was induced by intrarectal instillation of TNBS in all research groups except the control group, and rats were meliorated with dexamethasone and buspirone."5.72Buspirone Ameliorates Colon Inflammation in TNBS-Induced Rat Acute Colitis: The Involvement of TLR4/NF-kB Pathway.
