bupivacaine and Spinal Cord Injuries

bupivacaine has been researched along with Spinal Cord Injuries in 13 studies

Bupivacaine: A widely used local anesthetic agent.
1-butyl-N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)piperidine-2-carboxamide : A piperidinecarboxamide obtained by formal condensation of the carboxy group of N-butylpipecolic acid with the amino group of 2,6-dimethylaniline.
bupivacaine : A racemate composed of equimolar amounts of dextrobupivacaine and levobupivacaine. Used (in the form of its hydrochloride hydrate) as a local anaesthetic.

Spinal Cord Injuries: Penetrating and non-penetrating injuries to the spinal cord resulting from traumatic external forces (e.g., WOUNDS, GUNSHOT; WHIPLASH INJURIES; etc.).

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"To systematically review the evidence on the use of local analgesics, specifically lidocaine or bupivacaine, to prevent autonomic dysreflexia (AD) during iatrogenic procedures or bowel and bladder care routines in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI)."5.41Are local analgesics effective in reducing autonomic dysreflexia in individuals with spinal cord injury? A systematic review. ( Gray, K; Krassioukov, AV; Krogh, K; McCracken, L; Sachdeva, R; Sheehan, W, 2023)
"In most cases, drug-related spinal cord injuries have resulted from the compression of a spinal inflammatory mass or abcess rather than from a direct neurotoxic effect."1.32Spinal cord lesion after long-term intrathecal clonidine and bupivacaine treatment for the management of intractable pain.
