Myeloid Sarcoma Expressing Keratins and Mimicking Carcinoma-Case Report and Literature Review.
    Laboratory medicine, 2022, Jan-06, Volume: 53, Issue:1

Unusual presentations of otherwise common hematopoietic neoplasms are a well-recognized diagnostic challenge. Herein, we present a case study of a previously healthy 64 year old woman with myeloid sarcoma whose diagnosis was delayed by an unusual immunohistochemical staining pattern, including cytokeratin expression, by the neoplastic cells and by possible anchoring bias introduced by radiographic and flow cytometric immunophenotyping reports. This case study emphasizes the need to integrate clinical, radiographic, histologic, and immunophenotyping data for rapid and accurate tissue diagnoses while being wary of the lack of specificity for many common immunophenotypic markers.

The first case of acute myeloid leukaemia/myeloid sarcoma with cytokeratin expression on blasts diagnosed on urine specimen.
    Hematology/oncology and stem cell therapy, 2021, Volume: 14, Issue:4

Here we describe a rare case of renal myeloid sarcoma, first discovered incidentally on routine urine analysis, which is one of the first of it's kind to be reported. We describe the vanishingly rare phenomenon of renal myeloid sarcoma presenting without haematological manifestation while also highlighting the often inevitable transformative nature of the disease. We also describe the unusual immunohistochemistry findings, in particular the cytokeratin expression, that is not usually typical of such cases. We briefly discuss use of PET-CT for the disease response monitoring. We summarize treatment that has included palbociclib, use of which was previously reported only in small series of patients with AML with KMT2A mutation.
