bendroflumethiazide has been researched along with Hypertension in 296 studies
Bendroflumethiazide: A thiazide diuretic with actions and uses similar to those of HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE. It has been used in the treatment of familial hyperkalemia, hypertension, edema, and urinary tract disorders. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p810)
bendroflumethiazide : A sulfonamide consisting of 7-sulfamoyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine 1,1-dioxide in which the hydrogen at position 6 is substituted by a trifluoromethyl group and that at position 3 is substituted by a benzyl group.
Hypertension: Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more.

"The pilot phase of the British multicentre randomized controlled trial of treatment for mild hypertension has shown: (1) that unselected subjects, aged 35-64 years, with mild hypertension are willing to enter and remain in a long-term trial even though asymptomatic; (2) that the differences of mean systolic and mean diastolic pressure achieved between treated and control subjects is sufficient to produce the expected difference in terminating events with the 18000 patients calculated as needed for the full-scale trial; (3) that side effects with the two selected active primary regimens (bendrofluazide and propranolol) are common but mild (no serious side effects or toxic reactions have been reported); (4) that the work load imposed by the trial, though considerable during screening and the initiation of patients into the trial, can largely be taken by specially trained nursing staff, and when screening is completed the trial does not impose a heavy burden of follow-up examinations; (5) that there are no adverse psychological effects caused by alerting asymptomatic people to their raised pressure and enrolling them into a prolonged programme of clinical attendance; (6) that the total costs of carrying out a full-scale trial--estimated at about lb." | 5.04 | Medical Research Council's Treatment Trial for mild hypertension: an interim report. Endothelial cell (EC) was collected after a 20-guage angiocatheter was inserted into the contralateral forearm vein under sterile conditions. Three J-shaped vascular guidewires (St. Jude, St. Paul, MN) were advanced sequentially into the vein up to 10 cm. Endothelial cells were collected by gentle abrasion and placed into a dissociation buffer (0.5% bovine serum albumin, 2mM EDTA, and 100 ug/ml heparin in PBS). Endothelial cells were recovered from the tips of guide wires by repeated washing into collection tubes and subsequent centrifugation. EC were incubated with monoclonal antibodies against the polyclonal antibodies against NADPH oxidase p47 subunit. The intensity of staining was measured using fluorescence microscopy. (NCT01501929)
