aspirin and Bilirubinemia

aspirin has been researched along with Bilirubinemia in 6 studies

Aspirin: The prototypical analgesic used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties and acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase which results in the inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostaglandins. Aspirin also inhibits platelet aggregation and is used in the prevention of arterial and venous thrombosis. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p5)
acetylsalicylate : A benzoate that is the conjugate base of acetylsalicylic acid, arising from deprotonation of the carboxy group.
acetylsalicylic acid : A member of the class of benzoic acids that is salicylic acid in which the hydrogen that is attached to the phenolic hydroxy group has been replaced by an acetoxy group. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with cyclooxygenase inhibitor activity.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In addition, characterization of the UGT1A locus and genetic studies directed at understanding the role of bilirubin glucuronidation and the biochemical basis of the clinical symptoms found in unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia have uncovered the structural gene polymorphisms associated with Crigler-Najjar's and Gilbert's syndrome."4.80Human UDP-glucuronosyltransferases: metabolism, expression, and disease. ( Strassburg, CP; Tukey, RH, 2000)
"All the cases presented moderate hyperbilirubinemia, elevated alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase with an average of 302+/-205 UI/L and 285+/-149 UI/L respectively."1.35Reyes's syndrome, encephalopathy, hyperammonemia and acetyl salicylic acid ingestion in a city hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
