Superiority of voriconazole over amphotericin B in the treatment of invasive aspergillosis after heart transplantation.
The Journal of heart and lung transplantation : the official publication of the International Society for Heart Transplantation, 2005, Volume: 24, Issue:1

Invasive aspergillosis in immuncompromised patients occurs frequently. Surgical therapy in combination with chemotherapy with amphotericin B and itraconazole is standard therapy. We describe a heart transplant recipient with invasive Aspergillus fumigatus infection in the lung, which was treated successfully with voriconazole after systemically high-dose intravenous therapy with amphotericin B failed.

Pulmonary Rhizopus rhizopodiformis cavitary abscess in a cardiac allograft recipient.
The Journal of cardiovascular surgery, 1999, Volume: 40, Issue:2

Pulmonary mucormycosis is rare in solid organ transplant recipients. Only one case has been reported previously in a cardiac allograft recipient. However, the Rhizopus species in that study was not identified. We report a case of successful surgical treatment of pulmonary cavitary mucormycosis due to Rhizopus rhizopodiformis in a cardiac allograft transplant recipient. A review of the literature on pulmonary mucormycosis occurring in solid organ transplant recipients is also presented.
