amitriptyline has been researched along with Pain, Intractable in 21 studies
Amitriptyline: Tricyclic antidepressant with anticholinergic and sedative properties. It appears to prevent the re-uptake of norepinephrine and serotonin at nerve terminals, thus potentiating the action of these neurotransmitters. Amitriptyline also appears to antagonize cholinergic and alpha-1 adrenergic responses to bioactive amines.
amitriptyline : An organic tricyclic compound that is 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d][7]annulene substituted by a 3-(dimethylamino)propylidene group at position 5.
Pain, Intractable: Persistent pain that is refractory to some or all forms of treatment.

"The treatment of cancer pain by psychotropic drugs is a method which has been employed for a long time [8] and in which the results obtained have appeared very interesting from the beginning: there is a high percentage of success, rapid action, absence of addiction, and although there are sometimes unpleasant side-effects, they are reversible when the treatment is stopped." | 1.26 | Pain infirmity and psychotropic drugs in oncology. "Peak itch intensity between the vehicle and 4 other active treatments (individual ketamine, amitriptyline, or lidocaine, and KeAmLi-combo). Itch intensity was measured on a 100mm scale visual analog scale for 10 minutes. 0 was weighted with no itch and 100 was weighted with most itch imaginable." (NCT03096444)
