amitriptyline and Alloxan Diabetes

amitriptyline has been researched along with Alloxan Diabetes in 9 studies

Amitriptyline: Tricyclic antidepressant with anticholinergic and sedative properties. It appears to prevent the re-uptake of norepinephrine and serotonin at nerve terminals, thus potentiating the action of these neurotransmitters. Amitriptyline also appears to antagonize cholinergic and alpha-1 adrenergic responses to bioactive amines.
amitriptyline : An organic tricyclic compound that is 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d][7]annulene substituted by a 3-(dimethylamino)propylidene group at position 5.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate, firstly, the peripheral and systemic effects of amitriptyline on tactile allodynia in the streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rat model of neuropathic pain and, secondly, whether caffeine coadministration affects the actions of amitriptyline."3.71Involvement of adenosine in the anti-allodynic effect of amitriptyline in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. ( Aslantas, A; Dokmeci, I; Firat, Z; Karadag, HC; Tamer, M; Ulugol, A, 2002)
" However, sitagliptin was observed to have no effect when administered alone or in combination with the other three drugs."1.43Drug combinations in diabetic neuropathic pain: an experimental validation. ( Mehta, AK; Tripathi, CD; Yadav, AM, 2016)
" Analysis of the log dose-response curves for oxcarbazepine or gabapentin in a presence of amitriptyline and oxcarbazepine or gabapentin applied alone, revealed a synergism in oxcarbazepine-amitriptyline and additivity in gabapentin-amitriptyline combination."1.36Analysis of the antinociceptive interactions in two-drug combinations of gabapentin, oxcarbazepine and amitriptyline in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. ( Bosković, B; Micov, AM; Prostran, MS; Stepanović-Petrović, RM; Tomić, MA; Ugresić, ND; Vucković, SM, 2010)
" There is also a fairly broad consensus that gabapentin is safe and well tolerated, but the side-effect profile of gabapentin has not been adequately assessed in pain populations."1.33Adverse effects of gabapentin and lack of anti-allodynic efficacy of amitriptyline in the streptozotocin model of painful diabetic neuropathy.
