aminooxyacetic acid and Stomach Ulcer

aminooxyacetic acid has been researched along with Stomach Ulcer in 2 studies

Aminooxyacetic Acid: A compound that inhibits aminobutyrate aminotransferase activity in vivo, thereby raising the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid in tissues.
(aminooxy)acetic acid : A member of the class of hydroxylamines that is acetic acid substituted at postion 2 by an aminooxy group. It is a compound which inhibits aminobutyrate aminotransferase activity in vivo, resulting in increased levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid in tissues.

Stomach Ulcer: Ulceration of the GASTRIC MUCOSA due to contact with GASTRIC JUICE. It is often associated with HELICOBACTER PYLORI infection or consumption of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS).

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The occurrence and characteristics of binding sites specific for gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and muscimol in the rat stomach were examined by biochemical and autoradiographic techniques, and the effects of GABAergic model compounds on gastric ulceration induced by chemical irritation was studied in intact and unilaterally vagotomized rats."3.67GABAA receptors in the rat stomach may mediate mucoprotective effects.
