acetic acid and Bacteriuria

acetic acid has been researched along with Bacteriuria in 7 studies

Acetic Acid: Product of the oxidation of ethanol and of the destructive distillation of wood. It is used locally, occasionally internally, as a counterirritant and also as a reagent. (Stedman, 26th ed)
acetic acid : A simple monocarboxylic acid containing two carbons.

Bacteriuria: The presence of bacteria in the urine which is normally bacteria-free. These bacteria are from the URINARY TRACT and are not contaminants of the surrounding tissues. Bacteriuria can be symptomatic or asymptomatic. Significant bacteriuria is an indicator of urinary tract infection.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Eighty-nine persons with bacteriuria were randomized to irrigate their bladders twice daily for 8 weeks with 30 mL of (a) sterile saline, (b) acetic acid, or (c) neomycin-polymyxin solution."5.12Evaluation of 3 methods of bladder irrigation to treat bacteriuria in persons with neurogenic bladder. ( Camp, SM; Canupp, KC; Chen, Y; Roper, JF; Waites, KB, 2006)
"The effect of dilute solutions of hydrogen peroxide, povidone-iodine, and acetic acid on a chronic Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteriuria was studied to determine whether direct bladder instillation of the antimicrobial solutions would reduce or eliminate the bacterial count."3.67Hydrogen peroxide: potential for prophylaxis against bacteriuria.
