8-phenyltheophylline: purinergic P1 receptor antagonist

Carcinoma, Hepatocellular: A primary malignant neoplasm of epithelial liver cells. It ranges from a well-differentiated tumor with EPITHELIAL CELLS indistinguishable from normal HEPATOCYTES to a poorly differentiated neoplasm. The cells may be uniform or markedly pleomorphic, or form GIANT CELLS. Several classification schemes have been suggested.

"The present study was undertaken to assess the adenosine receptor regulation of erythropoietin (Ep) secretion in hepatocellular carcinoma cells (Hep3B) in response to hypoxia."3.68[Increase in erythropoietin secretion mediated by adenosine A2 receptors]. ( Fisher, JW; Nakashima, J; Tazaki, H, 1993)
" On the other hand, 8-phenyltheophylline, an adenosine receptor antagonist, significantly inhibited the stimulatory effects of CHA on both Ep secretion and cAMP accumulation in the Hep 3B cell cultures in response to hypoxia."3.68Increased erythropoietin secretion in human hepatoma cells by N6-cyclohexyladenosine.
