5-hydroxydecanoate and Death, Sudden, Cardiac

5-hydroxydecanoate has been researched along with Death, Sudden, Cardiac in 2 studies

5-hydroxydecanoic acid: Potassium Channel Blocker; RN refers to parent cpd

Death, Sudden, Cardiac: Unexpected rapid natural death due to cardiovascular collapse within one hour of initial symptoms. It is usually caused by the worsening of existing heart diseases. The sudden onset of symptoms, such as CHEST PAIN and CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS, particularly VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA, can lead to the loss of consciousness and cardiac arrest followed by biological death. (from Braunwald's Heart Disease: A Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine, 7th ed., 2005)

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In this study, we investigated whether TZDs affect onset, spectral characteristics, and mortality of ischemic ventricular fibrillation (VF) and whether such effects are recapitulated by a non-selective K(ATP) blocker (glyburide) or a mitochondrial K(ATP) blocker (5-hydroxydecanoate)."3.78Thiazolidinedione drugs promote onset, alter characteristics, and increase mortality of ischemic ventricular fibrillation in pigs.
