4-aminobenzoic acid and Porphyrias

4-aminobenzoic acid has been researched along with Porphyrias in 5 studies

4-Aminobenzoic Acid: An aminobenzoic acid isomer that combines with pteridine and GLUTAMIC ACID to form FOLIC ACID. The fact that 4-aminobenzoic acid absorbs light throughout the UVB range has also resulted in its use as an ingredient in SUNSCREENS.
4-ammoniobenzoate : A zwitterion obtained by transfer of a proton from the carboxy to the amino group of 4-aminobenzoic acid.
4-aminobenzoic acid : An aminobenzoic acid in which the amino group is para to the carboxy group.

Porphyrias: A diverse group of metabolic diseases characterized by errors in the biosynthetic pathway of HEME in the LIVER, the BONE MARROW, or both. They are classified by the deficiency of specific enzymes, the tissue site of enzyme defect, or the clinical features that include neurological (acute) or cutaneous (skin lesions). Porphyrias can be hereditary or acquired as a result of toxicity to the hepatic or erythropoietic marrow tissues.

"The effect of p-amino-benzoic (PAB) acid on the experimental hexachlorobenzene (HCB) induced hepatic porphyria of female Wistar rats was determined under different conditions: Neither a simultaneous HCB-PAB application (prophylactic administration) nor the PAB application after manifestation of the HCB-porphyria (therapeutic administration) influenced significantly the excretin of urinary porphyrins or precursors (porphobilinogen or 5-amino-levulinic acid)."7.66[Influence of p-amino-benzoic acid on the hexachlorobenzene induced porphyria in the rat (author's transl)].
