1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine and Multiple System Atrophy

1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine has been researched along with Multiple System Atrophy in 1 studies

1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine: A dopaminergic neurotoxic compound which produces irreversible clinical, chemical, and pathological alterations that mimic those found in Parkinson disease.
1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine : A tetrahydropyridine that is 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine substituted by a methyl group at position 1 and a phenyl group at position 4.

Multiple System Atrophy: A syndrome complex composed of three conditions which represent clinical variants of the same disease process: STRIATONIGRAL DEGENERATION; SHY-DRAGER SYNDROME; and the sporadic form of OLIVOPONTOCEREBELLAR ATROPHIES. Clinical features include autonomic, cerebellar, and basal ganglia dysfunction. Pathologic examination reveals atrophy of the basal ganglia, cerebellum, pons, and medulla, with prominent loss of autonomic neurons in the brain stem and spinal cord. "We developed a primate model of striatonigral degeneration (SND), the neuropathology underlying levodopa-unresponsive parkinsonism associated with multiple systemic atrophy (MSA-P), by sequential systemic administration of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) and 3-nitropropionic acid (3NP) in a Macaca fascicularis monkey."1.31Toward a primate model of L-dopa-unresponsive parkinsonism mimicking striatonigral degeneration.
