1-(3-chlorophenyl)piperazine and Anorexia Nervosa

1-(3-chlorophenyl)piperazine has been researched along with Anorexia Nervosa in 4 studies

1-(3-chlorophenyl)piperazine: supposed metabolite of TRAZODONE; RN given refers to parent cpd; structure
1-(3-chlorophenyl)piperazine : A N-arylpiperazine that is piperazine carrying a 3-chlorophenyl substituent at position 1. It is a metabolite of the antidepressant drug trazodone.

Anorexia Nervosa: An eating disorder that is characterized by the lack or loss of APPETITE, known as ANOREXIA. Other features include excess fear of becoming OVERWEIGHT; BODY IMAGE disturbance; significant WEIGHT LOSS; refusal to maintain minimal normal weight; and AMENORRHEA. This disorder occurs most frequently in adolescent females. (APA, Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms, 1994)

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Neuroendocrine, temperature, test-meal, and psychometric responses are reviewed following challenges with the post-synaptic 5-HT receptor agonist m-chlorophenylpiperazine (m-CPP), the 5-HT precursor L-tryptophan (L-TRP), and placebo in 12 patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) and 16 healthy controls."5.08Studies of serotonin function in anorexia nervosa. ( Brewerton, TD; Jimerson, DC, 1996)
"Although patients with severe migraine-like headaches had higher peak m-CPP levels than patients without severe headaches, these levels are not higher than other groups studied who did not get headaches."1.28Headache responses following m-chlorophenylpiperazine in bulimics and controls. ( Brandt, HA; Brewerton, TD; Jimerson, DC; Lesem, MD; Murphy, DL, 1992)
