[Study on chemical constituents of Carthamus tinctorius].
To investigate the chemical constituents in water-soluble fraction of Carthamus tinctorius.. Compounds were isolated and purified by macroporus resin, silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and preparative HPLC. The structures were identified by spectral analysis.. Twelve compounds were isolated and identified as 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde (1); E-1-(4'-hydroxypheny) -but-1-en-3-one (2); 3-Formylindole (3); 2-Acetyl-5-hydroxymethylfuran (4); p-Hydroxycinnamic acid (5); (6R, 7E, 9R) -9-hydroxy-4,7-megastigmandien-3-one (6); 4-hydroxyacetophenone (7); 5-(hydroxymethyl) -2-furaldehyde (8); 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid (9); Stigmasterol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (10); Daucosterol (11); beta-sitosterol (12).. Compounds 1 - 4, 6, 7, 10 are isolated from this plant for the first time. Topics: Acetophenones; Benzaldehydes; Carthamus tinctorius; Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid; Coumaric Acids; Flowers; Furaldehyde; Glucosides; Indoles; Molecular Structure; Parabens; Plants, Medicinal; Propionates; Stigmasterol | 2012 |
[Study on the chemical constituets in ethyl acetante extraction from semen litchi].
To study the chemical constituents in ethyl acetate extraction of Semen Litchi.. The compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 coupled with preparative silica gel TLC, their structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectrum analysis.. Five compounds were isolated and identified as stigmasterol (1), P-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (2), protocatechuic acid (3), daucosterol (4) and kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5).. Compounds 2 and 5 are obtained from this plant for the first time. Topics: Benzaldehydes; Fruit; Hydroxybenzoates; Kaempferols; Litchi; Molecular Structure; Seeds; Sitosterols; Stigmasterol | 2012 |
Villarinol, a new alkenoyloxyalkenol derivative from the endemic Philippine Rubiaceae species Villaria odorata.
Villarinol (1), a new alkenoyloxy alkenol metabolite, has been isolated from the dichloromethane extract of Villaria odorata, an endemic Rubiaceae Philippine plant, along with the known compounds stigmasterol and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The structure of 1 was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and spectrometric studies. The extracts of V. odorata exhibited moderate inhibition against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv, based on the colorimetric microplate alamar blue assay. Topics: Antitubercular Agents; Benzaldehydes; Microbial Sensitivity Tests; Mycobacterium tuberculosis; Plant Extracts; Rubiaceae; Stigmasterol | 2012 |
A succinylanthranilic acid ester and other bioactive constituents of Jolyna laminarioides.
Methyl 2-[propanamide-2'-methoxycarbonyl] benzoate, fucosterol, trans-phytol and p-formylphenol were isolated for the first time from a methanolic extract of Jolyna laminarioides. Methyl 2-[propanamide-2'-methoxycarbonyl]-benzoate exhibited chymotrypsin inhibitory activity and also found to be active against Escherichia coli and Shigella boydii. Fucosterol exhibited antifungal activity against Curvularia lunata, Stachybotrys atra and Microsporum canis. Topics: Anti-Bacterial Agents; Anti-Infective Agents; Antifungal Agents; Bacteria; Benzaldehydes; Benzoates; Chymotrypsin; Escherichia coli; Fungi; Microbial Sensitivity Tests; Microsporum; Molecular Structure; Phaeophyceae; Phytol; Plant Extracts; Protease Inhibitors; Shigella boydii; Stigmasterol | 1997 |
