To study the effects of homoharringtonine and isoharringtonine on the induction of apoptosis on human promyelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells.. By using flow cytometry, DNA gel electrophoresis, microscopy and electron microscopy.. It was demonstrated that homoharringtonine and isoharringtonine can induce apoptosis of HL-60 cells significantly and rapidly. The activity of homoharringtonine was higher than that of isoharringtonine, and it was time and concentration dependent.. Both homoharringtonine and isoharringtonine could induce apoptosis of HL-60 cells in terms of morphology, and DNA ladder assay.
