Description Research Excerpts Clinical Trials Roles Classes Pathways Study Profile Bioassays Related Drugs Related Conditions Protein Interactions Research Growth Market Indicators

Tri-n-butylphosphine (TBP) is a colorless liquid with a strong, unpleasant odor. It is a common reagent in organic chemistry, used as a ligand in transition metal catalysis and as a base. TBP is synthesized by the reaction of phosphorus trichloride with n-butylmagnesium bromide. It is used as a ligand in various catalytic reactions, including the hydroformylation of alkenes, the Heck reaction, and the Suzuki coupling. TBP is also used as a base in organic synthesis, for example, in the deprotonation of acidic compounds. The high basicity and steric bulk of TBP make it a useful reagent for a variety of reactions. TBP is studied because of its wide applicability in various chemical reactions and its ability to influence reaction outcomes due to its steric and electronic properties.'
