Description

thermospermine: polyamine extracted from an extreme thermopile, Thermus thermophilus; structure [Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), National Library of Medicine, extracted Dec-2023]

thermospermine : Propane-1,3-diamine in which a hydrogen attached to one nitrogen is substituted by a 3-aminoprop-1-yl group, and a hydrogen attached to the other nitrogen is substituted by a 4-aminobut-1-yl group. A polyamine natural product, its name arises from its similarity to spermine and the fact that it was first isolated from the extreme thermophile, Thermus thermophilus. Research Excerpts

Overview

Thermospermine (Tspm) is a polyamine found to play a crucial role in xylem development in Arabidopsis thaliana. It is an isomer of spermine and assumed to be synthesized by an analogous mechanism.
