Description

Propylene, also known as propene, is an unsaturated hydrocarbon with the formula CH3CH=CH2. It is a colorless gas with a faint petroleum-like odor. Propylene is a major petrochemical feedstock used in the production of a wide range of products, including polypropylene, acrylonitrile, propylene oxide, and isopropyl alcohol. Propylene is produced as a by-product of steam cracking of hydrocarbons. It is also produced by catalytic dehydrogenation of propane. Propylene is a flammable gas and should be handled with care. It is also a known irritant to the eyes and respiratory system. Propylene is an important building block for the chemical industry. It is used to produce a wide variety of products that are essential to modern life, including plastics, textiles, and pharmaceuticals. Propylene is also used as a fuel and as a raw material for the production of other chemicals. Propylene is a key component of natural gas and is therefore studied to understand its potential as an energy source. Research is also being conducted on the use of propylene as a feedstock for the production of biofuels. Propylene is a versatile and important chemical. Its production and use are essential to the modern economy.'

Treatment

Propylene treatment immediately induced rapid fruit softening, increased AC-PG (polygalacturonase) and AC-EXP (expansin) mRNA accumulation, and stimulated an increase in the soluble solid concentration (SSC) The 1-MCP treatment at the same stage markedly retarded the initiation of the ripening-related events.

Toxicity

Single-incision, ultralightweight polypropylene meshes were safe and highly effective in the treatment of PVP. Care must be taken to avoid instrumentation trauma and kinking stresses at knots.

RoleDescription
xenobioticA xenobiotic (Greek, xenos "foreign"; bios "life") is a compound that is foreign to a living organism. Principal xenobiotics include: drugs, carcinogens and various compounds that have been introduced into the environment by artificial means.
refrigerantA substance used in a thermodynamic heat pump cycle or refrigeration cycle that undergoes a phase change from a gas to a liquid and back. Refrigerants are used in air-conditioning systems and freezers or refrigerators and are assigned a "R" number (by ASHRAE - formerly the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers), which is determined systematically according to their molecular structure.
