Description

Fluorescein-di-beta-d-galactopyranoside (FDG) is a fluorescent probe that can be used to study the activity of beta-galactosidase enzymes. It is synthesized by conjugating fluorescein to di-beta-d-galactopyranoside. When beta-galactosidase cleaves the galactose residues from FDG, it releases fluorescein, which can be detected by fluorescence microscopy. FDG is a useful tool for studying the expression and activity of beta-galactosidase in cells and tissues. It has been used to study the development and function of the nervous system, the differentiation of muscle cells, and the progression of cancer. FDG is also used as a substrate for beta-galactosidase assays in vitro. The compound has been used to identify and analyze the activity of beta-galactosidase enzymes in various biological samples, including cell lysates, tissue extracts, and biological fluids. FDG is a useful tool for studying the activity of beta-galactosidase enzymes and has applications in various biological and biomedical research areas.'
