Ethylene thiuram monosulfide (ETMS) is a sulfur-containing organic compound used as a vulcanization accelerator in the rubber industry. It is synthesized by reacting ethylene diamine with carbon disulfide and then reacting the resulting dithiocarbamate with sulfur. ETMS is a highly effective accelerator, resulting in rapid vulcanization and improved physical properties of rubber. It is also used as a fungicide and bactericide in agriculture. The compound is known to be a skin irritant and can cause allergic reactions. Studies are ongoing to better understand its environmental fate and potential for bioaccumulation.'
