Description

Dimethyldioxirane (DMDO) is a powerful oxidizing agent that is commonly used in organic chemistry. It is a colorless, volatile liquid that is typically generated in situ by the reaction of acetone with potassium peroxymonosulfate (oxone). DMDO is a highly reactive species that readily undergoes electrophilic attack by a variety of substrates. Its most important application is in the epoxidation of alkenes. DMDO is also used for the oxidation of alcohols, sulfides, and amines. DMDO is studied extensively due to its high reactivity and selectivity, making it a valuable reagent for a wide range of synthetic transformations. '
