Description

Cyclizine hydrochloride is an antihistamine medication that is used to treat nausea and vomiting. It is also used to prevent motion sickness. Cyclizine hydrochloride is a synthetic compound that was first synthesized in the 1950s. The synthesis of cyclizine hydrochloride involves a series of steps, starting with the reaction of 1-phenylpiperazine with 2-chloro-1-phenylpropan-1-one. The resulting product is then reacted with hydrochloric acid to form the hydrochloride salt. Cyclizine hydrochloride works by blocking the action of histamine, a chemical that is involved in the allergic reaction. When histamine is released, it causes a variety of symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Cyclizine hydrochloride blocks histamine from binding to its receptors, which prevents these symptoms from occurring. Cyclizine hydrochloride is also effective in treating motion sickness. Motion sickness is caused by the conflicting signals that are sent to the brain from the inner ear and the eyes. Cyclizine hydrochloride works by blocking the action of histamine in the inner ear, which helps to reduce the symptoms of motion sickness. Cyclizine hydrochloride is an effective treatment for nausea and vomiting, motion sickness, and other conditions. It is a safe and well-tolerated medication when used as directed. However, there are some potential side effects associated with cyclizine hydrochloride, such as drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, and constipation. These side effects are usually mild and tend to go away on their own. If you experience any side effects that are bothersome or do not go away, talk to your doctor.'

Roles (4)

RoleDescription
H1-receptor antagonistH1-receptor antagonists are the drugs that selectively bind to but do not activate histamine H1 receptors, thereby blocking the actions of endogenous histamine.
central nervous system depressantA loosely defined group of drugs that tend to reduce the activity of the central nervous system.
cholinergic antagonistAny drug that binds to but does not activate cholinergic receptors, thereby blocking the actions of acetylcholine or cholinergic agonists.
antiemeticA drug used to prevent nausea or vomiting. An antiemetic may act by a wide range of mechanisms: it might affect the medullary control centres (the vomiting centre and the chemoreceptive trigger zone) or affect the peripheral receptors.
