Description

8-Hydroxyamoxapine is a hydroxylated metabolite of amoxapine, a tetracyclic antidepressant. It is formed in the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. 8-Hydroxyamoxapine is pharmacologically active and has been shown to have antidepressant effects in animal models. It has also been shown to have antipsychotic activity in animal models and is thought to be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of schizophrenia. 8-Hydroxyamoxapine is studied because of its potential therapeutic value in the treatment of mental health disorders. It is also being investigated for its potential to treat other conditions, such as epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. It is considered a potential drug target for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders, which could be considered an important area of study.'
